IISL was invited to be a co-organizer of the 2019 International Symposium on the Peaceful Uses of Space Technology (Health), co-hosted by Chinese institutions led by the Chinese Society of Astronautics (CSA) from 18 to 20 November 2019 in Zhuhai (programme here). IISL was represented by its President Kai-Uwe Schrogl, who gave a plenary keynote (here) and moderated a session on space law and Board of Directors member PJ Blount contributing a presentation on Space Traffic Management.

The symposium was an outstanding opportunity to dialogue with the broad expertise in space law present in numerous Chinese governmental, academic and commercial institutions. IISL member Li Shouping, Director of Space Law Center at China National Space Administration, was chairing the other space law session, which completed a panorama of Chinese assessments and approaches to the current legal issues of space governance and the various issues of the modern space economy mirroring the dynamic development of commercial and private space activities in China.
