On the occasion of the 61st session of the Legal Subcommittee of United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) and the European Centre for Space Law (ECSL) co-organized on April 5th 2022 the traditional “Space Law Symposium”, devoted to current and relevant topics of the field.

Addressing this year the topic “National Laws and Regulations to Ensure Space Sustainability”, the event focused on the implementation of the UNCOPUOS 2019 Guidelines for the Long-Term Sustainability of Outer Space Activities”, considering actions at the national and international level designed towards the achievement of space sustainability.

The invited speakers represented perspectives from different space actors, pragmatically addressing current challenges and concerns in a collaborative effort to properly inform and support the UNCOPUOS Legal Subcommittee towards next steps regarding sustainability of outer space.

In light of the on-going COVID pandemic, the event exceptionally followed a hybrid format. The programme may be found below.
