Legal Aspects of Disaster Management and the Contribution of the Law of Outer Space
Overview
The 2018 Symposium was held on 3 April, 16:00 – 18:00 Vienna Time (CEST) in Conference Room III, Vienna International Centre.
A panel of prestigious speakers discussed the following subject: “Legal Aspects of Disaster Management and the Contribution of the Law of Outer Space” during the 45th session of the Legal Subcommittee of the UN COPUOS.
The panel was welcomed by Coordinator Ambassador Peter Jankowitsch, Chair of the Advisory Board Austrian Aeronautics and Space Agency (and Past Chair of Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space). IISL Secretary Tanja Masson-Zwaan and UNOOSA Legal Officer Mr. Sergiy Negoda acted as Rapporteurs for the Symposium.

This IISL/ECSL Annual Symposium on Space Law is co-organised every year by IISL and ECSL and takes place during the Legal Subcommittee of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Use of Outer Space (UN COPUOS) in Vienna, Austria. Both IISL and ECSL are permanent observers to the COPUOS Legal Subcommittee.
This Symposium brings together academic experts and leading practitioners in the field of space law, policy and regulation to discuss pressing issues and to propose solutions to the international community.
