At the IAA Awards Gala Dinner preceeding the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Sydney, IISL Executive Secretary PJ Blount received his certificate of having been elected as Corresponding Member of the IAA and IISL Member Ruth Stilwell received her certificate as Full Member (Academician). Both new Academicians will serve in the Academy section for social sciences.
On the photo below, they are congratulated by IAA President John Schumacher and IISL President Kai-Uwe Schrogl.
IISL Member Kimitake Nakamura was awarded the 2025 Social Sciences Book Award by the IAA for his publication “Norm Formation in Space Law”, which in his acceptance speech he described as an oevre from the viewpoint of a diplomat.
