Dear IISL members, We will have a next IISL Happy Hour on 18 November 2022, 16:00-17:00 CET. The theme is the review of IAC. IAC-22 was held 18-24 September in Paris. Many of us, IISL members attended IAC and involved with various activities including especially making a presentation and/or exchanging views at the IISL Colloquium. Two months having passed since the IAC-22, it seems high time we reviewed the IAC-22 through members perspectives, lessons learned, prospects for the future IISL under the changing IAC environment, constructive proposals, etc. We need a good strategy for the prosperity of the IISL. Members who did not attend the IAC-22 are also equally or more strongly recommended to join the next IISL Happy Hour as you can get precious information from your colleagues and friends. we will freely discuss with a drink in our hand, which is fit for the Friday Happy Hour.

We are happy to announce a special edition of the IISL Happy Hour- “A Hommage to Prof. Bin Cheng (1921- 2019) by the IISL” – on 28 May 2022. Prof. Bin Cheng is a formidable figure in international law and in particular, in the fields of air and space law. Prof. Cheng made significant contributions to the theory of international law and enriched the field through concepts such as the notion of “instant customary international law” and “jurisfaction and jurisaction”. Yet, this is only one aspect of his many accomplishments. Commemorating 100th anniversary of birth of this giant, the IISL will hold a special happy hour to commemorate our maestro Prof. Bin Cheng and discuss both his works and our memories of him as a wonderful human being. IISL Happy Hour #11 held
The 11th IISL Happy Hour was held on 12 March. This time Professor Dr. Sandeepa Bhat B made a presentation on the recent space law conference held at his Center for Aviation and Space Laws (SASL), National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, India, of whish he is the Director. His presentation is entitled “A Discourse on Key Deliberations in the CASL (Center for Aviation and Space Laws) Conference on Space Tourism.” This covered such a wide variety of space law issues that motivated the active Q and A session, which was followed by the updating and exchange of views among about ten attendees.

We are happy to announce the 11th IISL Happy Hour to be held on 12 March. IISL Happy Hour consists of two parts. IISL Happy Hour #10 held
On 15 January 2022, 10th “IISL Happy Hour” was held, which started as a new communication format to interact and share good experiences among the IISL members in February 2021. This time, 24 IISL members participated. For the 10th IISL Happy Hour, Prof. Guoyu Wang, Associate Prof. and Dean of Academy of Air, Space Policy and Law, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) made a presentation titled “Due Principles for the Avoidance of On-orbit Collision.” His presentation and the following discussions as well as updating of the participants was moderated by vice-president Setsuko Aoki. IISL Happy Hour #9 held
Special edition: Briefing on the coming IAC-21 On 16 October, the ninth “IISL Happy Hour” was held, which started as a new communication format to interact and share good experiences among the IISL members in February 2021. The series of the IISL Happy Hour is coordinated and hosted by Vice President Setsuko Aoki. This is a monthly 60 minutes program. As a special edition, a briefing of the logistical aspect of the coming IAC-21 was given by President Kai-Uwe Schrogl, followed by the discussion, consultation and coordination among the participants. This time, about 20 IISL members participated.

The next and 9th IISL Happy Hour will be held on 16 October 2021, 15:00-16:00 UTC. We are discussing, consulting, and confirming the coming IAC-21 to be held 25-29 October in Dubai, UAE. IISL members who are going to Dubai are especially recommended to attend this IISL Happy Hour to get a brief from our President Kai-Uwe Schrogl.
IISL Happy Hour #8 held
On 18 September, the eighth “IISL Happy Hour” was held, which started as a new communication format to interact and share good experiences among the IISL members in February 2021. This time, about 15 IISL members participated. The series of the IISL Happy Hour is going to be coordinated and hosted by Vice President Setsuko Aoki. This is a monthly 60 minutes program. In the first half of the Happy Hour, a presentation is given followed by discussions and in the second half, members are invited to chat and report, moderated by President Kai-Uwe Schrogl. For the eight IISL Happy Hour, Speaker, Chuck Dickey, Principal at TCTB made a presentation entitled “TCTB: A Private-Public Path to Cooperative ADR”.
